Abstract

This research focuses on finding teachers’ perspectives toward the use of humor in teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL). To get the information, the researcher did the interview with 4 participants who are English teachers at one public Junior High School in Kota Jambi. There are 7 questions that asked by the researcher. All of the questions are related to the advantages and disadvantages of using humor in the classroom. As the result of this research, the researcher found that overall the participants stated the agreement towards the advantages that listed in the research review of literature they are sociological benefits, instructional benefits, and psychological benefits. While for the disadvantage of humor in teaching English is that humor use in the classroom will not always be acceptable for the students. Key words: perspectives, humor, teaching EFL.
