Abstract

heavy metals are natural constituent part of soil. Issue of heavy metals pollution on soil has became eological problems in Indonesia. Especially consequence of the effect of waste industry. The research has purpose to known the effect of ultisol amelioration by application of sludge compost from paper industry on content of soil copper (Cu). The experiment in the field used completely randomized blok design with five replication. Treatment were five levels of sludge compost dosage, namely 0; 5; 10; 15; and 20 ton per acre. The data were analiyzed statically by linear regression program. The result showed that sludge compost application caused decreasing of soil acidity. Decreasing of soil acidity Decreasing of soil cidity has caused decreassing of acontent of soil copper as well. Sludge compost application was not caused copper toxicity in the soil
