ABSTRACT Abrar, Aidil. 2018. Development of Contextual Based Contextual Rain Cycle Media on Science Lesson of Class V Primary School. Essay. Education Program Teacher Elementary School, Department of Education, FKIP University of Jambi, Supervisor (I) Drs. H. Syahrial, M.Ed., Ph.D., Advisor (II) Hendra Budiono, S.Pd., M.Pd. Keywords: learning media, diorama, rain cycle The use of learning media in elementary schools has not been well utilized. This is because the limited learning media in accordance with the material taught by the teacher. One of them is diorama media based on contextual rain cycle on learning science class V Primary School. This study aims to develop and produce products in the form of a rainfall diorama media that is valid, practical and effective. This research is a kind of research development. The development model used in this research is 4-D development model consisting of 4 stages, define, design, develop, and disseminate. The subjects of this study are students of grade V SDN No. 56 / I Aro Village. The results of the study showed that the validity and validity test of the media were valid, with an average score of 4.83 by the media expert of 8 indicators, clear and neat, clean and attractive, compatible with the target, relevant to the topic taught, in accordance with the learning objectives, practical , flexible and resistant, good quality, and size according to the learning environment and average 4.28 by the material experts of the 5 indicators of material conformity with KD, the accuracy of the material, encourage curiosity, inquiry, and create the ability to ask questions. The practical level obtained the data value of 3.53 from the questionnaire of students response with very practical category and data value 3,62 from questionnaire of teacher response with very practical category. The result of pre-test is got the mean value 48,1 and the result of post-test is got average value 67,6. Based on the results of pre-test and post-test obtained the percentage of effectiveness of 85.7% of 21 students, 18 students cognitive learning outcomes increased. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that the diorama media based on contextual rain cycle on the science learning of Grade V of Elementary School is in the category of assessment is very valid, very practical and very effective.
