This research described the type of metaphor used by one of the most popular TED speaker, Ken Robinson. Conceptual Metaphor Theory by Lakoff and Johnson (1980) was used as guidance for researcher to divide the metaphor found in Ken Robinson’s speeches based on the types of metaphor. Metaphorical Mapping was used in order to help the researcher looked deeper into the metaphor. In this research, the relation between metaphor and the background of the speaker was taken into analysis. Descriptive qualitative was employed on this research and helped by qualitative manner as the research method. The data of this research were taken from TED.com randomly. They were three speeches of Ken Robinson taken into analysis. The researcher also took the provided transcription in order to make it easier for the researcher to analyze the data. It was analyzed by using Componential analysis and Metaphorical Mapping. Then it’s described in descriptive qualitative way. The findings of this research showed four types of metaphor used by Ken Robinson. Orientational metaphor dominated the findings of this research by having the biggest percentage of occurrence. Dead metaphor on the other side seemed small in this research. While, Structural and Ontological Metaphor showed a look in this research but not as many as Orientational Metaphor did.
