Abstract
ABSTRACT Fadillah, I. 2019. The Purpose of Reading English of Fifth Semester Students of PGMIPA-U (Pendidikan Guru Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam Unggulan) Biology of Jambi University. Thesis. English Study Program. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education in Jambi University in Academic Year 2018/2019.The First Supervisor is Dra. Radiatan Mardiah. M.Hum. The Second Supervisor is Hustarna, S.Pd., M.A Key words: purpose, reading, reading habit This research is a qualitative research with a case study approach. This research focused on the purpose of reading English of the fifth semester PGMIPA-U (Pendidikan Guru Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam - Unggulan) Biology of Jambi University. The participants of this research were 6 students. The data of this research were got from the interview and demographic questionnaire that adapted from Al – Nafisah (2011) and Iftanti (2012) which consisted of 16 questions. The data of the research made the researcher classified the answers into there themes. They are hobby, recreational, concentration. From the data that the researcher has got, it can be concluded that the purpose of reading English of fifth semester students of PGMIPA-U (Pendidikan Guru Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam - Unggulan) Biology of Jambi University is reading as a concentration.
