Abstract

ABSTRACT Etika, Eli. (2017). Proposed Model of English Writing Syllabus for Eleventh Graders of Computer and Networking Technical Program. Thesis, English Study Program. Faculty of Teaching Training and Education, Jambi University in Academic Year 2016/2017. First supervisor : Lilik Ulfiati, S.Pd, M.Pd and second supervisor : Failasofah, S.S, M.Pd. Key words : Syllabus, English for Specific Purposes (ESP), English Writing Skill, Model This study is aimed to produce Model of English Writing Syllabus for Eleventh Graders of Computer and Networking Technical Program at SMK N 1 Kota Jambi. The study used a Research and Development (R&D) design. The researcher used interview guindance, questionnaire and document to collect more data and information in advance. The participants of this study were Eleventh graders of Computer and Networking Technical Program at SMK N 1 Kota Jambi. In designing the syllabus, the researcher conducted some steps by Borg and Gall (1983). They are Analysis step, design step, Development step, Implementation step and evaluation step. Moreover, the researcher did not conduct the implementation step because the researcher only focused on designing syllabus. In evaluation the syllabus, the researcher had experts that help the researcher in revising to make better model of English syllabus. There are some suggestions and comments. Based on the comments and suggestions from experts. It can be summarized as following : (1) the learning material have to be more spread (2) the time allocation should be consider with the learning material (3) add the model of the conversation context in learning material (4) provide various learning activities and test (5) using need analysis to develop syllabus items In conclusion, after validation the model of English writing syllabus will field testing in small group after that do revision and then field testing again in big group and make revison if all step are done the model of English writing syllabus could use by English teacher in SMK N 1 Kota Jambi to teach the English writing skill. Moreover, the researcher hopes to the further researcher could implement this model of syllabus in order to investigate the result and make it become the final product of syllabus.
