Abstract

Hardiyani, Puti. 2020. The Analysis of Address Terms Used By English Students At Jambi University When Interacting With Friends. The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Jambi University. First Supervisor is Drs. Adrefiza, M. A., Ph. D and Second Supervisor is Dr. Fortunasari, S. S., M. A. There are a lot of discussions in Sociolingustics. Address terms are the one of those discussions. The objective of this study is to investigate the address terms of students in English Department when interacting with their friends, wether they use monotones address terms or not. The instrument for collecting the data was six ODCT’s situations. This research uses address terms categorazing model by Wardhaugh (2006)’s study, where the data explain with descriptive qualitative method. The data of this study are derived from 20 students at English Department which are devided into two groups, 10 male and 10 female. The findings of this research show that students wether male and female used the monotones address terms when they interact with their friends and Kinship address terms are the most frequent.
