Abstract

Reading is a crucial activity that cannot be separated from every single student in this world. By reading, students have a goal to get idea or information about something from what they read to increase their knowledge. It is important for English Education Study Program students for having good ability in reading and also to gain their success when learning. One of their success factors can be influence by the students’ attitude. The purpose of this research was to know what the undergraduate students’ attitude toward extensive reading at English Education Study Program of Universitas Jambi. The research design of this research was qualitative research with a case study approach. In collecting the data, the researcher used demographic profile questionnaire and interview protocol. The participants of this research were six students of fifth semester of English Education Study Program of Universitas Jambi. The findings showed eight themes in this research, they were 1) Reason to Choose English Education Study Program, 2) Expectation Learning at English Education Study Program, 3) Knowing Reading Skill, 4) Students’ way to learn reading, 5) Opinion about extensive reading, 6) Feeling about extensive reading, 7) Problem in learning extensive reading, and 8) Solution to Solve the Problem. Whereas the conclusion shows that the undergraduate students’ attitude toward extensive reading at English Education Study Program of Universitas Jambi is positive attitudes.
