Abstract
ABSTRAK Discovery learning method is a teaching method that regulates teaching in such a way that the child acquires knowledge that he or she has not previously notified through notification, partially or wholly found alone. In learning discovery activities or learning designed in such a way that students can find the concepts and principles through its own mental processes. In discovering concepts, students make observations, classify, make guesses, explain, draw conclusions and so forth to find some concepts or principles.This study aims to improve the activity of science learning in the fourth grade students of SD Negeri 34/1 Teratai Muara Bulian. Besides, the purpose of this study is to improve the learning process so that students' activeness in science learning can increase.This type of research is a classroom action research. This research uses discovery method. Subject of this research is teacher and student of class IV. Data collection is done through observation. What is used during the observation to see the authentic student activity is the student worksheet, the observation sheet, and the written test of data about the students' learning activity along with the documentation. Data analysis technique is done periodically in every cycle and by using 2 cycle where in each cycle consist of 2 (two) meetings.The results of this study indicate that by applying the discovery method can improve students' learning activity on Science subjects of Energy material and its use for fourth grade students of SD Negeri 34/1 Teratai Muara Bulian.dimana this is evidenced by student activity observation sheet, that is on Cycle I is the residual activity of the 70.8% acquisition score and increased in cycle II the acquisition activity increased to 91.6%.Based on the results of research students 'learning activities on science lessons can be concluded that by applying the method of discovery (Discovery) can improve students' learning activities on science subjects and declared eligible to be applied.
