Abstract
Every rhizosphere of a plant within any ecosystem has various kinds of microorganism, including Arbuscular Mycorrhiza Fungi (AMF). Each ecosystem also has different species and strains of AMF, and in order to identify for further use, the isolation and characterization steps of AMF spores are required. The study was conducted on two different locations of oil palm plantation which developed on Red Yellow Podzolic (RYP) of used forest and rubber plantation, soils. The study had identified that at each soil type was found 2 AMF genus i.e. Glomus and Acaulospora. At oil palm rhizosphere, it was found 9 strains of AMF (5 strains of Acaulospora and 4 strains of Glomus) on RYP of used forest, 9 strains of AMF (7 strains of Glomus and 2 strains of Acaulospora) on RYP of used rubber plantation. In the rhizosphere of oil palms planted in RYP of used forest soil, AMF was dominated by Acaulospora, whereas that in RYP of used rubber plantation soils, were dominated by Glomus. Key words: isolation, characterization, purification, AMF, RYP
