Octavirisa, Cindy. 2019. Students’ Perception on English Club in Speaking Practices at SMPN 7 Kota Jambi. A thesis of English Study Program, Language and Art Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Jambi University. First Supervisor is Indri Anastasia, S.S., M.A., M.Ed., and Second Supervisor is Dr. Masbirorotni, S.Pd, M.Sc.Ed. Key words: Perception, English Club, Speaking Practices This thesis is entitled “Students’ Perception on English Club in Speaking Practices at SMPN 7 Kota Jambi”. The aim of this study is to investigate students’ perception on English club in speaking practices. To obtain the data, the writer used three techniques; observation, questionnaires, and interview. The observation was used in order to get information directly about the behavior, situation, or attribute of the population. The questionnaire was used to gain more valid and reliable data about the students’ responses to the speaking club. While the interview was used to investigate whether the speaking club influence and improve the students’ speaking ability. The population of this study was all of the students of SMPN 7 Kota Jambi. Twenty-eight students were taken as the sample of the study. In addition, the English club in this research means a group of college students’ that come from the same age, level or grade aimed to improve students’ enthusiasm and motivation in practicing speaking. Based on the data obtained, the writer concludes that the students’ have a positive perception of the English club in speaking practices. It plays an important role in facilitating the students to practice speaking.
