Abstract
The objective of this research is to investigate English teachers’ strategies in motivating the students to learn English at one of Vocational High Schools in Jambi. The design of this study is qualitative research with a case study. In collecting the data, the researcher used the interview to three English teachers. To select the participant, the researcher used purposive sampling. The data of this research collected through a semi-structured interview. The results of this research indicate that there are eight strategies used by English teachers in learning English to motivate the students at one of Vocational High Schools in Jambi such as being friendly to students, giving the simple question, create a task in group discussion, giving advice and suggestion, giving praise and reward, giving punishment, using Gadget, and using the game.
