Abstract

This Research and development study aimed to develop English reading textbook for fifth graders of SDN 47 Jambi. This development used ADDIE model which consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The data was analyzed by using descriptive qualitative method. The data of this research were collected by using questionnaire, interview and validation sheet. The questionnaire was used in order to collect the data of the analysis. Interview was used in order to collect the data from the participants’ response. There were three aspect of the interview, aspect of understanding, aspect of difficulty, and aspect of interest. The English reading textbook was validated by material and media experts as validators. The English reading textbook provides reading texts and exercises which support students to learn profession, map and procedure. Based on the result of the small group tested, their response was mostly the students gave positive feedback. The English reading textbook is accepted as learning media for English lesson which is interesting, contextual and congruence to use for students. It was tested in small group only. This Research and development study was focus on reading textbook, there were three chapters and it used for first semester only.
