Abstract

ABSTRACT Jannah, M. (2020). Students’ Problems in Learning English at SMP N 30 Muaro Jambi. Thesis. English Study Program. Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Jambi University in Academic Year 2019/2020. The first supervisor is Dr. Dra Rachmawati, M.Pd. The second supervisor is Nely Arif, S.Pd., M.Pd. The purposes of the research is to identify the students' problems in learning English as well as to investigate the factors that cause the students' problems in learning English. The data were gathered through interviews, by using a qualitative method to analyze the data. The results of the research show that there are five main problems faced by the students which are internal problems; lack of motivation, lack of concentration, lack of self–confidence, fear of mistake and shyness and external problems are lack of English lesson hours and to know the effort made by the students to help overcome their problems. The researcher recommends to other researchers to some related researchers in deeper, further, and better techniques. Keywords: students' problems, learning English.
