Abstract

ABSTRACT Ziaurrahman, M. Adam. 2021. Students’ Motivation in Taking Creative Writing as Entrepreneurship Course at English Language Study Program in Jambi University. Thesis. English Education Study Program. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Jambi University in Academic Year 2020/2021. The first supervisor is Delita Sartika, S.S., MA., P.hD. The second supervisor is Dr. Yanto, S.Pd., M.Ed. Key words: Students’ Motivation, Creative Writing, Entrepreneurship Course. The objective of the research is to find out Students’ motivation in taking creative writing as entrepreneurship course in English language study program at Jambi university. Related to the objective of the research, the research used qualitative research design. In collecting the data, the research used interview. The researcher used transcribing, identify themes and coding the data into categories for analyzing the data. The subjects of this research are 5 students in creative writing class and 1 creative writing lecturer in English Language Study Program at Jambi University. Then the findings of the research, the five students who were interviewed showed strong personal interest in writing, which became their main aspect of internal motivation to register for Creative Writing class. These students genuinely demonstrate expectation to develop writing skills from the course. Furthermore, these students also share similar experiences in developing writing habit long before they study in the college. External motivation in creative writing was developed among these students because the course relatively meets their expectation. Because of their genuine interest in developing writing skills, these students seem to be certain about what kinds of learning they expect to engage in Creative Writing class. The result of this study could become consideration to the study program and creative writing Subject’s lecturer to help him in evaluate the learning process.
