Siti afriani zega. 2020. An Analysis of Senior High School Students’ Speaking Ability In Retelling Narrative Texts at Grade Ten of SMAN N 2 Batanghari. Thesis. English Education Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. This research aims to describe the level of speaking ability of students of Grade ten SMA N 2 Batanghari in retelling narrative text in English. This research is a descriptive study. The population of this research is a grade ten students SMA N 2 Batanghari school year 2019/2020. This research sample amounted to 35 people consisting of a class of ten IPA 2. Data collected using retelling speaking test. In retelling, students are given five story titles to choose from one of them and are asked to retell them for a maximum of five minutes. Retelling the delivered by each student is recorded using the recorder. The research Data is a transcription of retelling narrative text recordings that are then analyzed quantitatively. Based on the data obtained, students ' speaking ability in retelling narrative text in English is very good (17.14%), good (68.57%), and fair (14.28%). In other words, the results of this study showed that the level of learning ability of students of Grade ten SMA N 2 Batanghari school year 2019/2020 in retelling narrative text using English is good that is at level 2.
