This research has been conducted in May to October 2020. The purpose of this study is to analyze the accumulation of mercury metal in the kepah shellfish (Polymesoda erosa) meat found in the Batanghari River through the Jambi City. Research on heavy metal content in water was conducted at 6 measurement points consisting of 3 measurement points in the Olak Kemang Village upper and lower of the river and 3 measurement points in Kemingking Dalam Village the upper and lower of the river. Determination of river water sampling point is done using purposive sampling method. Meanwhile, measurements of the kepah shellfish meat at both locations were carried out three times each and the sampling method used was grab sampling. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that (a) The quality of Batanghari River water based on TSS parameters, turbidity, DO and Hg metal content has exceeded the quality standard limit set by Government Regulation No. 82 of 2001 and Permenkes RI No. 416/Menkes/Per/IX/1990. Whereas for COD parameter there is only 1 (one) sample that has exceeded the predetermined quality standard; and (b) Based on Dirjen POM No. 03725/SK/VII/89, the Hg metal content in the shellfish is still below the quality standard. According to Wahyu (2008), the content of Hg in the shellfish of some samples has exceeded the quality standard. Meanwhile, according to WHO (2011), the content of Hg in the shellfish has exceeded the established quality standards.
