Abstract

Health seeking behavior (health seeking behavior) is the behavior of individuals or groups or residents to carry out or seek treatment when sick or accident. Special uniqueness in the search for treatment can be seen in the Remote Indigenous Communities (KAT) of Jambi Province, also known as "Suku Anak Dalam (SAD)" or "Suku Kubu", or "Orang Rimba" whose existence is also a focus in improving public health. Various factors influence the treatment seeking behavior of predisposing factors, supporting factors and reinforcing factors. The purpose of this study is to analyze efforts to seek treatment in the Smallest Indigenous Community (KAT) in the work area of Pematang Kabau Health Center in Sarolangun Regency. This study used a qualitative method carried out in April-September 2019. Informants in this study were "Tumenggung" Community Leaders, traditional healers and health workers. The results showed that in an effort to seek treatment, KAT people did self-treatment, traditional remedy, and sought treatment at a health facility unit. Usually at the market hall every Monday, the community also visits the Puskesmas because the market location is opposite the Puskesmas. People also still have faith in efforts to cure diseases with "incantations" and use objects that are considered as personal protection. In order to increase understanding in improving the KAT community's health status, it is necessary to optimize an equitable health service program, improve coordination with 'Tumenggung' and routinely educate the public. Keywords : search for treatment, traditional, Tumenggung
