Abstract

Higher Education is a dynamic place for generating ideas, works, innovation, art and technology. Activities carried out by research and development. The result is an intellectual property both individually and in groups. Research results must be able to answer global challenges and can be managed and utilized properly and correctly. One of the uses of research results is commercialization. Commercialization is a moment when technology can be applied to a production or consumption that generates profits for both the inventor and the right holder. Protection of intellectual works is absolutely necessary. The problem is how the KI system in Indonesia functions to optimize revenue / royalty from research results in tertiary institutions,

A study of statutory regulations and interview methods was carried out for this research. Data can be quantitative and qualitative. The results show that the IP system in Indonesia has not significantly supported and boosted revenues and royalties. This is because there are differences in research paradigms in higher education and industry. The IP system in Indonesia is relatively good, but its management is not friendly to researchers. Policies related to institutions and management of research results are needed in tertiary institutions.
