Abstract

The objectives of this research were to identify soybean lines tolerant to shade and to generate knowledge on physiological photosintetic mechanisms tolerance to shade. The ultimate goal of this study was to develop soybean varieties that have high adaptability to shade and yield adaptable to various multiple cropping system. The study consisted of two set of experiments, namely: (1) evaluation of 15 accession of soybean germplasms in low light stress conditions (paranet condition), and (2) evaluation of 15 accession of soybean germplasms in light stress conditions (no light condition). There were two soybean varieties that were classified as tolerant genotype, i.e: Ringgit and Petek, three as moderat genotypes that were Kawi, Cikurai, Argopuro, Anjasmoro and Tanggamus, and two as sensitive genotypes, namely: Seulawah and Jayawijaya.
