Abstract

This study aims to describe the results of lexicostatistics, glotochronology, and the error term of the Palembang Malay language (MP), Besemah Lahat (BL), Besemah Pagaralam (BP), and Kayuagung (KA). The research approach is qualitative and quantitative with comparative, lexicostatistic, and glotochronology methods. The results obtained are 24 identical word pairs, 7 phonemic correspondence; phonetic correspondence not found; and 21 correspondence to one different phoneme. The percentage of relatives in the four languages from the observation points that were compared MP - BL 79.5%, MP - BP 79%, MP - KA 59.5%, BL-BP 85%, BL-KA 56%, BP - KA 60%. Glotochronological calculations found: MP - BL 543 M, MP - BP 560 M, MP - KA 1236 M, BL - BP 390 M, BL - KA 1384 M, BP - KA 1219 M.
