Abstract
Infectious diseases in primary school children can have short-term and long-term impacts such as morbidity and mortality. The worm infestation of elementary school students in Pelayangan Seberang District, Jambi City was 20.7%, ascaris lumbricoides. Clean and healthy living behaviors can be edited to elementary school students through educational media specifically designed to activate the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains of elementary school students. This community service was carried out at SDN 004 / IV Pelayangan Jambi. A total of 86 students from grade IV to grade VI were divided into two groups of video and gameboard. The educational media used were worm disease board game series and educational videos. The results showed that the average height of the students was 133.2 cm, the average weight of the students was 30.9 kg, the average student experienced 4-6 symptoms of intestinal worms within 2 weeks (31.4%), the state of the students' nails 87.2% clean, the highest student snack frequency 2-3 times a day (40.7%), the main reason for snacking was not bringing food to school (45.3%), the most commonly purchased snacks are traditional cakes (32.6%). After the intervention with gameboard and video educational games, only the scores for knowledge of worms (mean±SD, 0.965±3.100 p = 0.005) and PHBS knowledge were significant (mean±SD, 6.290±6.29, p = 0.000), while snack knowledge was not significant. The gameboard-playing group had an increased knowledge score of 2.13 compared to the video score (0.000), and the healthy snack knowledge score also increased by 1.48 (0.002). It is recommended that teachers, parents and health agencies use appropriate nutrition education media or methods for primary school-aged children.
