Abstract

This research is based on the phenomenon that occurs in elementary school learning, especially learning Indonesian reading the beginning, reading the beginning is an important learning applied to low grade students in elementary schools as a provision for students to be able to receive learning material contained in the material, without the ability to read properly. well then the learning process is not going well. The stages of students' initial reading ability are (1) recognizing the letters of the alphabet, (2) spelling / arranging words, (3) and composing simple sentences. The 3 basic abilities must be possessed by students who are learning to read. Even though in the midst of learning conditions that are carried out online, the teacher must anticipate and look for strategies to teach students in pre-reading reading. This study aims to determine the teacher's strategy in increasing the ability to read introduction. This research is a qualitative case study, which describes the research findings from the exploratory results of research data collection. The subject of this research is the low grade teacher of SDIT Cahaya Hati. The data collection techniques of this research are interviews, observation and documentation. The results of the study revealed that the pre-reading abilities of grade 1 and 2 students were still low during the online learning process, the obstacles that occurred in the online learning process included the difficulty of the teacher interacting specifically with students who had difficulty reading the strategies used in online learning, namely by providing learning videos that sent via WA class group, video call and zoom.
