Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this community service activity is to control pollution, damage and environmental preservation in schools, to create togetherness among school members, to make teaching and learning conditions more comfortable and conducive to support the independent Adiwiyata program at SMAN 4 Jambi City. The implementation method for achieving the target of environmentally sound school development towards the Adiwiyata independent program at SMAN 4 Jambi City is: implementation of counseling and training, active participation of school members, implementation of environmentally sound policies, participatory-based environmental activities, management of environmentally friendly supporting facilities by school residents at SMAN 4 Jambi City.The program is implemented in several stages, namely: (1). Adiwiyata program introduction and preparation for program implementation, (2). counseling and training, (3). environmentally friendly practices by school residents, (4). environmental technical consulting services for school residents, and (5). implementation of program evaluation.The results of the activity show that: the level of knowledge about school sanitation management is in good category, where the level of knowledge increases with a score of 74 (moderate), while for the aspect of school waste management the level of knowledge also has a score of 70 (moderate). Knowledge of school environmental management with a level of knowledge with a score of 68 (sufficient) means that the training participants already know several ways to manage school gardens, green houses, keep toilets clean, clean gutters, and manage other facilities in the school.The conclusions of this activity are: (1). community service programs can be implemented and responded well by the school residents of SMAN 4 Jambi City. (2). This community service program is very beneficial for school residents and implementing institutions because it can be a medium for transfer of knowledge and technology, especially environmental preservation at SMAN 4 Jambi City schools towards Adiwiyata Mandiri.Keywords: environment, Adiwiyata, and school residents
