Abstract
SUMMARY Jambi Province is one of the areas where sugar palm is spread, precisely in Malapari village, Muara Bulian district, Batanghari district. The people of Malapari village use sugar palm plants from generation to generation to improve the economy (for sale). A review of literature studies as well as a preliminary survey conducted in Malapari Village found that Research on ethnobotany of Arenga pinnata (Wurmb) Merr) has not been studied. This study aims to determine how to process and use sugar palm plants, to know which parts of the Aren plant are used, and to know the preservation of sugar palm plants in Malapari Village. The method used is interviews based on key respondents (Snowball sampling) and certain criteria (purposive sampling) of 20 key informants and 10 general informants, in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. Quantitative analysis is carried out using the formula equation of the part value utilized by Plant Part Value (PPV). The results of this research obtained the use of sugar palm by the people of Malapari Village, namely to increase economic value, food, medicine and house building materials. While the PPV values were stems and palm fiber 25% manggar and leaves 17%, and roots 8%. Keywords: Etnobothany, Malapari village, Palm Plant,
