Abstract

Based on observations in class III SD Negeri 66 / IV Jambi, learners have not understood the concept of multiplication count using the correct repeated summation, learners only concerned with the correct answer on the matter of calculation perkaliana. the lack of understanding of learners in understanding the concept of counting the right multiplication due to the limitations of instructional media and teacher creativity in the learning process. The purpose of this study to determine the use of marbles as a medium of learning in improving understanding the concept of multiplication count on the third grade students SD Negeri 66 / IV Kota Jambi. This research is a Classroom Action Research (PTK). The use of marbles in this study is a media or aids in improving understanding of the concept of multiplication count done cyclically to achieve the criteria of success in research. Each cycle includes planning, execution, observation and reflection. The results of this study showed an increase in understanding of learners' concepts is quite significant visible on the results of the observation sheet and written test results of learners. on the result of observation sheet of cycle I meeting 1 get percentage equal to 22,5%, cycle I meeting 2 increased to 33,1%, then cycle II meeting 1 get percentage 68,125%, cycle II meeting 2 increased to 81,87% in good category . The results of written test cycle I from 18.75% then increased to 90.625% in very good category. Increased understanding of the concept of the correct multiplication count has been in accordance with the indicator. Researchers have used marbles as a learning medium that has been planned so as to increase understanding of multiplication hitunng concept. based on the results of observation in cycle II, then this research has been said successful because it has reached the predetermined success criteria. This research has been done through stages that have been cultivated according to the cycle. therefore it can be concluded the use of marbles as a medium of learning can improve understanding of the concept of multiplication count in third grade students in learning theme 7 (Development of Technology) SD Negeri 66 / IV Kota Jambi.
