Abstract

Background : Traditional gold mining in Lebong Tambang Village, has a high work accident rate either due to unsafe conditions or unsafe activities. Methods: This study uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive observational research type, to identify hazards and analyze the risk of work accidents. Hazard identification uses thetechnique Job Safety Analysis (JSA)by multiplying the values of consequence, exposure and probability to determine the level of risk. Result: Of the 3 work processes, there are 5 hazards including: Physical hazards in thecategory, very high namely porous wood, altitude, extreme temperatures and ventilation. Chemical hazards withcategory, very high namely harmful gases, calcium carbide, mercury water, nitric acid. Biological Hazard with acategory is substantial hookworm. Ergonomics hazard withcategory is priority 3 the wrong working position. Physiological hazards withrisk category are very high contact with mercury water, mercury vapor and nitric acid vapor. Suggestion : It is recommended that workers increase their awareness and concern about the importance of using PPE, increase knowledge skills related to the application of K3 in the workplace, and also remind each other between workers if an unsafe condition or behavior is found in the workplace.
