Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aim to investigate students’ perception on learning descriptive writing and the implementation of teaching descriptive writing through outdoor learning at SMP N 15 Tebo. Mixed method was chosen as the research design in this study. In conducting the research, the data were collected from 71 students at the eighth grade at SMP N 15 for data questionnaire and 1 English teacher at SMP N 15 for data interview. The result show that most of the students have a positive perception toward outdoor learning. According to questionnaire showed that the participant feel that outdoor learning help them to improve their writing skill and In the implementation of outdoor learning, there are two, namely the planning and the implementation of outdoor learning. Based on the finding data questionnaire and data interview of the study revealed that all participant agreed that outdoor learning can increased students’ motivation and writing outcome. Participants stated many advantages that they got during implementation of outdoor learning, they felt more comfortable writing descriptive text in outdoor. Key word: Student’s Perception, Outdoor Learning, writing, and Descriptive text.
