Abstract
The Internet gives a huge influence on various aspects of human life. Especially in the educational sector, mobile devices and digital platforms are widely used as new learning media. Online books and social media such as WhatsApp are used to assist language learning because WhatsApp application has potential as learning English media. It is supported by the features of WhatsApp such as permitting the user to send not only messages but also documents, videos, pictures, and audios. Thus, this research is aimed to find out the EFL students' perception towards WhatsApp chat group for English learning. The data where gathered from a questionnaire conducted on 78 EFL from 151 respondents where joined a WhatsApp chat group called Private English Room. The research design for this study is descriptive quantitative. The sample of this research was taken by the total sampling technique. To collect the result, the researcher used a questionnaire as the instrument. The questionnaire consisted of 22 items of closed-ended questions. They are divided into 3 parts. The first is demographic profile, the second variable is attitude (perceive, convenience/ ease of use) consisting of 6 questions. The third is the usefulness of WhatsApp variable consisting of 16 questions. The finding showed that WhatsApp chat group has a positive impact on EFL students' to help the EFL students to pass any information discussed easily and also to improve the knowledge of current issues by sharing one another. It can be seen from the total mean score for two categories first is EFL students attitude (3,63) and the second category about the usefulness of WhatsApp (3,67) was a high category.
