Abstract

Background: Stunting is a condition of toddlers who have a height that is not in accordance with the appropriate age. This situation is measured by height <-2 SD median child growth standard from WHO. This study aims to determine the relationship between women's empowerment and family food security with the incidence of stunting in children under five in Mendahara Tengah village, Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency in 2020. Methods: The research method is cross sectional design, the sample is 83 respondents. The sampling technique used was total sampling. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square test. Results: The results of the study found that as many as 42.2% of children under five experienced stunting, 48.2% experienced low female empowerment and 54.2% were in food insecurity. Empowerment of women with the incidence of stunting showed a significant relationship (p<0.05). Food security with the incidence of stunting showed a significant relationship (p<0.05). Conclusion: Women's empowerment and food security are risk factors for stunting in Mendahara Tengah Village, Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency. Keywords: Stunting, Food Security, Women Empowerment
