ABSTRACT Anjani, F. Riri (2021). "An Analysis of Textbook Entitled "Stairway: A Fun and Easy English Textbook for the 5th Grade in Primary School". A Thesis. Master of English Education Study Program. Language and Art Department. Faculty of The Teacher Training and Education Jambi University Key Words : Textbook, Content Analysis, Textbook Evaluation criteria Textbook is one of the media used in English language learning. A great number of EFL textbook evaluations have been done to find the most suitable textbook for English language teaching. The present study was aimed to determine the suitability of materials in the textbook "Stairway: A Fun and Easy English Textbook for the 5th Grade in Primary School" with the criteria of a good English textbook. The textbook was evaluated by using textbook evaluation check-list proposed by experts include five criteria: objective, methodology, activities, language skill and topic content. In the textbook, there are 6 chapters that will be evaluated using the criteria of a good English textbook. The result of the study shows that objectives of the lessons in textbook meet the criteria of a good English textbook. In methodology focused to the learner-centered there are various approaches that can used by the teacher such as, direct instruction, cooperative learning, oral approach, forum group discussion (PGD), task based approach and etc. For the activities, there are various activities in the textbook such as: Listen and repeat, practice the dialogue, read the text, matching short answer question, do small project, pairs-groups works, etc. Then in language skill, the materials provide an appropriate balance of the four language skills. The last aspect is topic content, The topics are designed with themes from the students would of school, family, and friends. The following topics content are: She is a Librarian, Get Me the Bag, Please?, Let's Make a Kite !, May I Borrow ?, Could You Crack the Egg?, and Let's go to the Bookstore From those of aspects, all criteria are provided in the textbook In conclusion, the materials in the textbook are fulfil with the criteria of good textbook
