Abstract

This literature review study provides trends analysis of studies in the field of WebQuest that were published in seven major journal databases: Taylor and Francis, Springer, Science Direct, Sage, Academic, Emerald, Wiley Online Library. These articles were cross analyzed by several criteria and keywords. The focus was Webquest as a learning media on ELT context. Descriptive statistic analysis was implemented for further analysis based on their research topics, issues category, research settings and samplings, research designs, research method and data analysis. It was found that WebQuest benefited students academically. Based on the result of analyzing the data, the researcher concluded that there are three general themes of Webquest research trends. (i) the Use of Webquest related to the English Language Teaching. (ii) The attitudes form the teacher and students after learning through Webquest. (iii) Webquest and the learning method theories. Present study also examines the predominant trend of the WebQuest research from 28 selected journals. Then, the result of the research was the use of Webquest on the English Language Skills. It is more suitable used for writing and reading and skill. In this decade, the WebQuest research trend has involved the quasi experimental study on how WebQuest can be used as a tool in teaching and learning, enhancing student potential and creating a positive learning environment. The analysis shows that most of the research had relied on an experimental method and content analysis. The results of the analysis also provide insights for educators and researchers into research trends and patterns of WebQuest.
