Abstract

SOKOY, MERCY P 2021, Factors influencing students’ Speaking Anxiety the case at one public University in Jambi: Language and Academic aspects. Thesis. English Education Study Program and Art Department. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Jambi University in Academic Year 2021/2022. The first supervisor is Nunung Fajaryani, S.Pd., M.Pd. The second supervisor is Dr. Mukhlash Abrar, S.S., M.Hum Key words: Academic aspects, language, speaking anxiety This research aimed to explore students speaking anxiety in Language and Academic aspects and ways used deal with it. The site of this research was one public university in Jambi. The subjects for this research were 12 students from 3th, 5th and 7th semester who has anxiety with their speaking. This research employed a qualitative method study with case study approach. The instruments used in this research were interview and Documentation. The result of this study showed that 1) all the participants felt anxious when they want to speak in front of class because of their language proficiency and language proponents. 2) To deal with speaking anxiety students had their own strategy such as language related management and self-management.
