Abstract

The utilization of fly ash as ameliorant could improve the physical chemical properties of post-mining land to support the growth of plants, and also control the environmental pollution by the combustion of coal as an energy source. The study of fly ash and manure effect to the physical properties of soil and the growth of corn plants had been carried out on post-mining land of coal of Nan Riang Company in Muara Batang Hari Tembesi. The purpose of this study was to determine the dose of fly ash and manure to the physical properties of soil as well as the production of corn plants. This research was conducted in the greenhouse. The results showed that the interaction of applying fly ash by 45 tons ha-1 and cow manure by 5% of the weight of the soil volume was the best for the improvement of physical properties of coal mined land as well as the growth and production of corn plants.
