Abstract
Oil palm plantations produce waste of oil palm bunches (TKKS) reaching 30-35% of the weight of fresh fruit. TKKS has a main content of cellulose of 54-60%. Until now the utilization of TKKS waste has not been done optimally, therefore it can be optimized with the utilization of cellulolytic bacteria on TKKS that have the ability in degrading cellulose which is expected to be used to accelerate the decomposition process. The purpose of this research is to see the ability of degradation bacteria from TKKS waste to cellulolytic bacteria growth. This research is a descriptive explorative research by isolating and analyzing the ability of cellulose degrading bacteria using isolated bacteria isolated from TKKS in PT. Pacific Bahar River Main Maro Sebo District Muaro Jambi tested using CMC (Carboxymethyl Cellulose) media. The results of this study obtained 14 bacterial isolates and consisted of 9 genera that were able to produce clear zone and coded as follows: Actinomyces (2), Bacillus (2) and (3), Brucella (2), Cellulomonas (1) and (2) , Clostridium (1) and (3), Cytophaga (1), (2), and (3), Flavobacterium, Staphylococcus (2), and the genus Micromonospora. It can be concluded that the bacterial isolate is capable of degrading the cellulose and the Brucella (2) has the highest dissolving index of 15.2, and there are test bacteria which are unable to degrade cellulose Actinomyces (1), Agrobacterium, Bacillus (1), Brucella (1 ), Cellulomonas (3), Clostridium (2), Klebsiella, Staphylococcus (1), and Streptomyces. It is suggested to the next researcher to test the cellulase enzyme activity of some potential cellulolitic bacteria so that it can be known that the rate of decomposition by bacteria and on potential bacteria that are pathogen is not used aerobically, but can be used anaerobically.
