Abstract
ABSTRACT Background: Non-Steroid Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) have the ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis, have analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects. Meloxicam is classified as a preferential COX-2 inhibitor, inhibiting COX-2 more than COX-1, but COX-1 inhibition at therapeutic doses remains significant. Meloxicam is used for the treatment of inflammation and pain that is less likely to cause gastrointestinal toxicity and bleeding. Meloxicam risks serious gastrointestinal side effects such as bleeding, ulceration, and perforation of the stomach or intestines, which can be fatal.The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of meloxicam administration on the histopatological picture of gastric mucosa damage in adult white rats (Rattus Norvegicus) sprague dawley strain. Methods: Observational study using Post-test Only Control Group Designed to view gastric tissue from the rat paraffin preparation group with 0.27 mg/200 g BW of meloxicam and the control group with distilled water for 7 days. Results: In the study of gastric mucosal damage in the aquades group the average score was 0.8, in the meloxicam group the average score was 1.2. Judging from the comparison of the average scores there is damage but not too significant. Conclusion: There was no effect of giving meloxicam at a dose of 0.27mg/200gr BW for 7 days on the histopathological appearance of gastric tissue of adult male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) Sprague Dawley strain. ABSTRAK Latar Belakang: Non Steroid Anti Inflamasi Drug (NSAID) mempunyai kemampuan untuk menghambat sintesis prostaglandin, mempunyai efek analgesik, anti inflamasi dan antipiretika. Meloxicam tergolong prefential COX-2 inhibitor menghambat COX-2 lebih dari COX-1 tetapi penghambatan COX-1 pada dosis terapi tetap nyata. Meloxicam digunakan untuk pengobatan inflamasi dan nyeri yang kurang menyebabkan toksisitas saluran cerna dan perdarahan. Meloxicam risiko efek samping gastrointestinal serius seperti pendarahan, ulserasi, dan perforasi lambung atau usus, yang bisa berakibat fatal. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian meloxicam terhadap gambaran histopatologi kerusakan mukosa lambung tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) dewasa galur Sprague Dawley. Metode: Penelitian observasional menggunakan rancangan Post-test Only Control Group Designed melihat dimikroskop gambaran jaringan lambung dari kelompok sediaan parafin tikus dengan meloxicam dosis 0,27 mg/200 gr BB dan kelompok kontrol dengan aquades selama 7 hari. Hasil: Pada penelitian kerusakan mukosa lambung kelompok aquades rerata skor 0,8 pada kelompok meloxicam rerata skor 1,2. Dilihat dari perbandingan rerata skor ada kerusakan tapi tidak terlalu signifikan. Kesimpulan: Tidak ada pengaruh pemberian meloxicam dosis 0,27mg/200gr BB selama 7 hari terhadap gambaran histopatologis jaringan lambung tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) dewasa jantan galur Sprague Dawley.
