Abstract

Fifi Nurfa Shella, 2021. “Students' Motivations toward English Online Learning at Eleventh Grade in SMKN 3 Jambi City” thesis report of the Department of English education, FKIP Jambi University, the first Advisor, Mrs. Dra. Armiwati, M. Hum, and the second supervisor, Mrs. Reny Heryanti, S.S., M.Hum. Keywords: Intrinsic Motivation, Extrinsic Motivation, Online Learning, Learning English This writing is motivated by the researcher's interest in the motivation of eleventh graders at SMK 3 Jambi City during online English learning. This writing aims to examine how high is students’ intrinsic motivations toward learning English online and how high is extrinsic motivations toward learning English online. In this case, the researcher utilizes a quantitative research method with a survey design. This study examined 103 samples from total population of 139 students based on the sample provisions in the table Krejcie and Morgan. Research shows that the intrinsic motivation of eleventh graders of TKR SMK 3 Jambi City towards online English learning are as follows ; Beliefs 61% -67% (Medium), Needs 79% (High), Curiosity 63% (Medium) to 75% (High), Arousal between 75%-77% (High). Extrinsic motivation of students to learn English online as follows ; Goal 80% (High), people around us is between 71%-76% (High), social environment 72% (High). This research is expected to provide benefits in the field of Education, especially in the realm of student’s motivation towards learning English online.
