Abstract

ABSTRACT Lake Kerinci is one of the tourist attractions in Kerinci Regency. To develop tourism potential requires an organization. As an organization, it is interesting to see what the role of the UPTD of the Tourism Office is in managing to develop Lake Kerinci tourism objects directly. By optimally managing the tourism sector, it is able to increase the economic growth of the surrounding community, but in its management there are various obstacles such as a limited budget and a low level of public awareness in maintaining tourism facilities and infrastructure. This study aims to describe the extent of the role of the Tourism Office in managing the development of the tourism sector, as well as to analyze the constraints and efforts made in the management of the tourism sector in Kerinci Regency. This research is a qualitative research with a case study approach with data collection techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation. The technique of determining the informants using purposive sampling and sampling incidental. The results showed that the management carried out by the Tourism Office and UPTD in developing the Lake Kerinci tourism sector was good by building certain projects to develop tourism objects each year.
