Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh toksisitas gliserol terhadap kualitas spermatozoa sapi Bali post thawing. Penelitian dilaksanakan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL), terdiri dari 5 perlakuan dan 6 ulangan. Perlakuan didasarkan atas konsentrasi gliserol dalam larutan pengencer tris sitrat kuning telur (TSK) yaitu P0 (0%), P1 (6%), P2 (12%), P3 (18%) dan P4 (24%). Parameter yang diukur dalam penelitian ini adalah motilitas, viabilitas, dan abnormalitas spermatozoa post thawing. Data dianalisis menggunakan sidik ragam dengan uji lanjut Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan konsentrasi gliserol berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap motilitas, viabilitas , dan abnormalitas spemartozoa (P<0,01). Konsentrasi gliserol 6% dalam pengencer dapat mengurangi penurunan motilitas dan viabilitas serta mencegah kenaikan abnormalitas spermatozoa. Efek toksik gliserol lebih kuat dengan peningkatan konsentrasi mulai 12%. This study aimed to determine the effect of glycerol concentration on motility, viability and abnormalities of frozen thawed spermatozoa of Bali cattle . The study was conducted using a completely randomized design with 5 treatments and 6 replications. The treatments consisted of T0 (0% glycerol), T1 (6% glycerol), T2 (12% glycerol), T3 (18% glycerol), P4 (24% glycerol).The results showed that the administration of glycerol had a very significant effect (p<0.01) on the motility, viability, and abnormality of spermatozoa. Six percent glycerol in diluent able to reduce the decrease in motility, viability. and prevent the increase of spermatozoa abnormality. Toxic effects of glycerol were higher in accordance to higher concentration startted in 12%.
