Abstract

Abstract In the Covid-19 pandemic situation, the education system is shifting from conventional to online learning. A change in the education system forced teachers to conduct online learning which had different times of teaching and ways of teaching. The purpose of this research is to investigate pre-service teachers' activities in teaching online and how they faced and solved problems in online learning. To answer the questions the researcher used qualitative approach followed by interviews and document analysis for collecting the data. The result showed that pre-service teacher activities in teaching online were divided into three activities such as preparation, implementation, and reflection. Briefly, pre-service teachers to teach in online learning took time around twenty minutes with ten minutes additional time by using synchronous method assisted by Google meeting and PowerPoint. Then, pre-service teachers faced kind of problems during conducting online learning such as unstable internet connection, unconducive class, and difficulty to encourage students’ motivation. Moreover, pre-service teacher provide solutions to overcome the problems by re-giving the material in the WhatsApp group, asking help to a supervising teacher, doing the question and answer method with their students, made an interesting teaching material. The researcher suggested that pre-service teachers need to do more discussion with professional teachers or expert parties in the online learning field.
