Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: There is still a high incidence of acute respiratory infections in toddlers in the working area of the Manggopoh Public Health Center. Respiratory tract infection is an infectious disease that attacks one part of the respiratory tract that lasts for 14 days. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between nutritional status, knowledge, residential density, smoking habits of family members in toddlers at the Manggopoh Health Center, Agam Regency in 2020. Methods: This study is a quantitative study with a cross sectional design, the population in this study were all mothers with toddlers living in the working area of the Manggopoh Public Health. Data collection was carried out in May-June 2021 and data analysis using univariate and bivariate chi-square. Results: The results of this study showed that there was no relationship between nutritional status and the incidence of ARI in infants with p-value (0.460). There is no relationship between mother's knowledge and the incidence of ARI in toddlers with p-value (0.860). There is a relationship between residential density and the incidence of ARI in children under five with p-value (0.034). There is a relationship between the habit of smoking family members with a value of (0.005). Conclusion: There is a relationship between residential density and the habit of smoking family members with the incidence of ARI in children under five in the Manggopoh work area, Agam Regency 2020.
