Abstract

Logam Cr(VI) merupakan salah satu logam berat yang bersifat toksik karena sifatnya yang berdaya larut dan memiliki mobilitas tinggi di lingkungan sehingga tidak mudah terurai dilingkungan. Sumber utama pencemaran logam Cr biasanya berasal dari limbah pengolahan batik dan electroplating. Salah satu cara mengatasinya adalah dengan adsorpsi menggunakan kitosan teramobilisasi Ca-Alginat sebagai adsorben. Proses pembuatan kitosan teramobilisasi Ca-alginat dilakukan dengan proses crosslink menggunakan larutan CaCl2. Tahapan pertama proses preparasi kulit udang sebagai sumber kitosan terjadi tiga tahap yaitu demineralisasi (penghilangan mineral) dengan menggunakan HCl 1,5 M, deproteinasi (penghilangan protein) dengan menggunakan NaOH 4%, dan deasetilasi kitin menjadi kitosan menggunakan NaOH 60%. Pengujian kitosan bertujuan untuk mengetahui gugus fungsi menggunakan FTIR (Fourier Transform Infra Red). Kemudian proses amobilisasi kitosan dicampurkan dengan Na-alginat yang kemudian diteteskan ke dalam CaCl2. Kitosan-alginat manik-manik dianalisis menggunakan spektroskopi FTIR (Fourier Transform Infra Red) untuk analisis gugus fungsi dan SEM-EDX (Scanner Electron Microscope-Energy Dispersive X-Ray) untuk analisis morfologi permukaan. Tahap aplikasi melalui adsorpsi ion logam Cr6+ dengan variasi pH larutan 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 dan 7, variasi waktu kontak 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, 105, 120, dan 150 menit serta variasi konsentrasi 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125 dan 150 ppm. Uji adsorpsi ion logam Cr6+ dianalisis menggunakan AAS (Atomic Adsorption Spectrocopy). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penyerapan optimum adsorben kitosan-alginat manik-manik terhadap ion logam Cr6+ berada pada kondisi pH 2 dengan efisiensi adsorpsi 96,39% dan kapasitas adsorpsi 1,1 mg/g, waktu kontak optimum yaitu 120 menit dengan efisiensi adsorpsi 76,66% dan kapasitas adsorpsi sebesar 0,8 mg/g dan konsentrasi optimum yaitu 150 ppm dengan kapasitas adsorpsi sebesar 12,69 mg/g. Cr(VI) is one of the heavy metals that is toxic because it is soluble and has high mobility in the environment so it is not easily decomposed in the environment. The main source of Cr metal pollution usually comes from batik processing waste and electroplating. One way to overcome this is by adsorption using Ca-Alginate immobilized chitosan as an adsorbent. The process of making Ca-alginate immobilized chitosan was carried out by crosslinking using CaCl2 solution. The first stage of the shrimp shell preparation process as a source of chitosan occurred in three stages, namely demineralization (removal of minerals) using 1.5 M HCl, deproteination (removal of protein) using 4% NaOH, and deacetylation of chitin into chitosan using 60% NaOH. Chitosan test aims to determine the functional group using FTIR (Fourier Transform Infra Red). Then the chitosan immobilization process was mixed with Na-alginate which was then dripped into CaCl2. Chitosan-alginate manik-manik were analyzed using FTIR (Fourier Transform Infra Red) spectroscopy for functional group analysis and SEM-EDX (Scanner Electron Microscope-Energy Dispersive X-Ray) for surface morphology analysis. The application stage is through the adsorption of Cr6+ metal ions with variations in solution pH 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, variations in contact time 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, 105, 120, and 150 minutes and variations in concentration 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125 and 150 ppm. The Cr6+ metal ion adsorption test was analyzed using AAS (Atomic Adsorption Spectrocopy). The results showed that the optimum absorption of chitosan-alginate manik-manik adsorbent against metal ions Cr6+ was at pH 2 with an adsorption efficiency of 96.39% and an adsorption capacity of 1.1 mg/g, the optimum contact time was 120 minutes with an adsorption efficiency of 76.66% and adsorption capacity of 0.8 mg/g and optimum concentration of 150 ppm with adsorption capacity of 12.69 mg/g.
