Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine bird species based on altitude zoning on Mount Kerinci. The hypothesis tested through this study is the diversity of bird species in each observation zone on Mount Kerinci. Central Montana Forest (HMT) (1,900-2,400 masl). Upper Montana Forest (BSA) (2,401-2,900 masl) and alpine soup grove (BSA) (> 2,900 masl). The tools and materials used in this study consisted of equipment for bird watching as well as equipment for documenting activities during the research. The object of research is the bird population found along the climbing route of Mount Kerinci. Based on the research that has been done, it can be seen that the number of birds found in the Mount Kerinci area consists of 58 species from 23 families. Eight of them are protected species under Government Regulation no. P.106/MENLHK/SETJEN/KUM.1/12/2018. Based on the Shannon-Wiener diversity index at Mount Kerinci for point 1 (HMT) it is in the range above 3, this value range shows that the species diversity at point 1 (HMT) is high. While point 2 (HMA) and point 3 (BSA) are in the range of 1-3 this value range shows that the species diversity at point 2 and (HMA) and point 3 (BSA) is in the range of 1-3. This value range indicates that species diversity at point 2 (HMA) and point 3 (BSA) are classified as moderate. Similar bird species between habitats in Mount Kerinci with a moderate index. The similarity of bird species between habitats in Mount Kerinci with the similarity index with the highest value being the similarity index from point 1 (HMT) and point 2 (HMA) is 79.01, which means that at this observation point there are many similar species. 1 (HMT) with point 3 (BSA) the similarity index is 56.52, at this point of observation it is relatively low, meaning that there are fewer of the same species.
