Abstract
ABSTRACT Background : Effective communication is key for nurses to achieve patient safety based on patient safety standards in hospitals. Raden Mattaher Jambi Hospital is one of the hospitals that has implemented patient safety programs since 2010. This study aims to find out the relationship of effective communication with the implementation of patient safety culture. Methods : This type of research is quantitative using Cross Sectional design. The population of this study was 220 nurses. The study sample numbered 69 nurses. Sampling techniques use random sampling. Instruments in this study used questionnaires. Data analysis uses univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with the Chi Square test. Results : The results showed that effective communication with the SBAR method (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) has a significant relationship with the implementation of a patient safety culture with a value of p= 0.00 which means effective communication with the SBAR method plays a role in the implementation of the patient safety culture. Conclusion : There is a significant relationship between effective communication and the implementation of the patient safety culture at Raden Mattaher Jambi Hospital. Effective communication with the SBAR method can be used to improve a good patient safety culture in hospitals. Keywords : Patient Safety Culture, Effective Communication, SBAR
