Abstract

Because of the covid-19 that happened, students are required to study online, more precisely on oracy in academic context subject. The educators or students must be used several applications or mediums to do online learning. Several applications or mediums are covered to help students in doing online learning. Zoom is a service cloud computing-based video conferencing. The Zoom app allows users to meet each other virtually, such as in a video, voice, or voice call of them. The aim of the research is to find out students’ perceptions and to find out the difficulties that are faced by students in learning oracy in academic context class using zoom by the third-semester students at Jambi University. The researcher conducted the study of students’ perception in learning oracy in academic context class using zoom by the third-semester students at Jambi University implemented a qualitative approach with a focused interview in gaining the data. The results of data analysis revealed that all students have many positive perceptions rather than negative ones about the use of zoom in learning oracy in the academic context. Using zoom is easy because the lecturer and the students can share screen PDF or other material on the Zoom application, such as video or audio. Besides that, if the lecturer wants to explain the material, they can share the screen the materials, and also using zoom is very cheap, free, and can learn anywhere as long as the internet connection is good.
