Abstract
The purpose of the study is to investigate the extent to which Student-Centered Learning (SCL) is implemented in the classroom and how the students perceive the SCL implementation. The data were gathered through questionnaires involving 103 fifth and seventh semester students of English Study Program of Jambi University. Participants were asked to answer the questions on the questionnaire which consist of 39 items in total. The type of the questions was closed question. After doing the research the data were analyzed by calculating students’ responses to find means score and frequency. The result of this study shows that the implementation of SCL in English Education Study Program is moderately implemented, with the overall mean score was 3.35. The students perceived that teaching method and teacher roles were the only aspects of SCL that highly implemented, while other aspects; student involvement, assessment and students’ roles were moderately implemented. However, the students’ perceived that the implementation of SCL more likely to give them some improvement on their performance. It is shown by the high mean score for students’ perception about SCL (3.48) The implementation of SCL gives some positive perception about their performance in the learning activities and their language skills.
