Abstract

Abstrak. One of Learning Material which perceived as difficult in Biology learning is Metabolism. Topic about Metabolism considered as difficult because it used many Biology terms, chemical reaction, procedure, analysis, and many things must be remembered. Some students feel bored, therefore they have no motivation or interest to read and learn about Metabolism. Based on these problems, then it is a need to develop the learning media which can motivate the students, for example using Comic. The purpose of this study is to develop the learning media in form of Comic (Kombi) about Metabolism material for twelve science grader students, to know the development procedure of making a Biology comic as a learning media, to examine the appropriateness of the learning media of Biology comic, and to examine students’ perceptions toward the Biology comic as a learning media. In this study, the researcher used ADDIE development, with stages; analyze, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data collection instrument used questionnaire, consist of validation by media expert, validation by materials expert, and also try on with small group of students. The data was collected in senior high school 1 class. The subjects of this study were twelve students. The Data collections instrument was close-ended questionnaire. The questionnaire likert scale with four types scoring. The data analysis technique used 2 type; quantitative and qualitative analysis. Based on the data collection, validation by media expert got 89.70 % as the final percentage which considered as very good and validation by materials expert got 80% as the final percentage which considered as good. The percentage of trying on small group of twelve science grader students got 91.0% which considered as very good. Based on this data analysis could be concluded that the development product which is comic for Metabolism material for twelve science grader students from layout and design, convenience, function, and appropriateness of the media also considered as very good. This product of study could be used as an alternative of learning media for Metabolism material. This comic media is suggested to be used in biology learning especially metabolism material.
