Abstract

Tonikum adalah sesuatu bahan atau campuran bahan yang bisa meningkatkan sistem pertahanan tubuh. Efek stimulan yang terjalin pada efek tonikum dilakukan oleh sistem saraf pusat. Daun pecut kuda serta pangkal bermanfat sebagai stimulan serta tonikum. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek tonikum pada ekstrak etanol daun pecut kuda (Stachytarpheta jamaicensis L. Vahl) pada mencit putih jantan.Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental dengan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) menggunakan 25 ekor mencit putih jantan yang terdiri dari 5 kelompok perlakuan yaitu 2 kelompok kontrol (K- diberikan Na CMC 0,5% dan K+ diberikan kafein 13 mg/kgBB ) dan 3 kelompok perlakuan (ekstrak etanol daun pecut kuda dengan dosis 50, 100 dan 200 mg/kgBB) dan setiap kelompok perlakuan diulang 5 kali. Metode yang digunakan uji natatory exhaustion, uji gelantung dan uji induksi tidur untuk parameter yang diamati adalah pertahanan mencit di permukaan air, durasi ketahanan mencit di atas alat gelantung dan waktu mencit tertidur. Data hasil pengamatan dianalisis menggunakan One Way ANNOVA uji lanjut duncan.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun pecut kuda (Stachytarpheta jamaicensis L. Vahl) mempunyai efektivitas terhadap uji efek tonikum dengan dosis 50, 100, 200 mg/kgBB. Pada penelitian ini pemberian ekstrak daun pecut kuda dosis 200 mg/kgBB memiliki aktivitas yang paling kuat sebagai tonikum. Kemudian diikuti dengan dosis 100 mg/kgBB dan 50 mg/kgBB.Ekstrak etanol daun pecut kuda (Stachytarpheta jamaicensis L. Vahl) memiliki efek tonik pada mencit putih jantan, dengan perbedaan bermakna secara statistik (P<0,05). Pada perlakuan 3 (200 mg/kgBB), pada dosis tersebut pengaruhnya hampir sama dengan kontrol positif kafein, dilanjutkan dengan perlakuan 2 (100 mg/kgBB) dan perlakuan 1 (50 mg/kgBB). Tonic is a substance or mixture of ingredients that can increase the body’s defence system. The stimulant effect intertwined with the tonic effect is carried out by the central nervous system. The leaves and base of the pecut kuda are useful as a stimulant and tonic. This study aims to determine the tonic effect of the ethanolic extract of pecut kuda (Stachytarpheta jamaicensis L. Vahl) leaves on male white mice.This was an experimental study with a completely randomized design (CRD) using 25 male white mice consisting of 5 treatments, namely 2 groups (K- was given 0,5% Na CMC and K+ was given caffeine 13 mg/kgBB) and 3 treatment group (ethanol extract of pecut kuda leaves with doses of 50, 100 and 200 mg/kgBB) and each treatment group was treated 5 time. The methods used were natatory exhaustion test, haging test and slep induction test with the observed parameters were holding time in a aquarium filled with water, leght of time hanging on a hanging device and sleeping time of mice. The results of data observations used Duncan’s One Way ANNOVA test.The results showed that the leaf extract of pecut kuda (Stachytarpheta jamaicensis L. Vahl) was effective against of tonic effect test at doses of 50, 100 and 200 mg/kgBB. In this study, the administration of pecut kuda leaf extracct at a dose of 200 mg/kgBB had the strongest activity as a tonic. Then followed by a dose of 100 mg/kgBB and 50 mg/kgBB.The ethanol extract of pecut kuda (Stachytarpheta jamaicensis L. Vahl) leaves had a tonic effect on male white mice, with a statistically significant difference (P<0,05). In treatment 3 (200 mg/kgBB), at that dose the effect was almost the same as the positive control of caffeine, followed by treatment 2 (100 mg/kgBB) and treatment 1 (50 mg/kgBB).
