Abstract
ABSTRACT Putri, Yeni. 2021. Analysis of Concept Construction Errors in Mathematical Problem Solving Based on Assimilation and Accommodation Frameworks in View of Student Learning Styles. Master of Mathematics Education, Jambi University Postgraduate Supervisor : (I) Dr. Nizlel Huda M.Kes., (II) Dr. Yantoro, M.Pd. Keywords: Concept Construction Errors, Problem Solving, Assimilation and Accommodation, learning styles Concept construction errors made by students in solving problems related to problem solving will affect students' understanding of mathematical concepts. This concept construction error can cause students' lack of success in understanding and mastering the material. The forms of concept construction errors are divided into 4 forms, namely (1) Pseudo Construction, (2) Construction Holes, (3) Mis-analogical Construction, (4) Mis-logical construction. This study aims to determine the process of conceptual construction errors of students with visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles in solving mathematical problem solving problems with three-variable linear equation systems based on assimilation and accommodation frameworks. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The study was conducted in class XI MIPA 1 SMA Negeri 1 Jambi City by giving a learning style questionnaire to 29 students which showed that visual learning styles were 34.5%, auditory was 41.4% and kinesthetic was 24.1%. Determination of research subjects using purposive sampling technique by selecting subjects that meet predetermined criteria, namely selected by considering students who meet the indicators of concept construction errors in solving the problem of a three-variable linear equation system. The research subjects were 6 students, each consisting of 2 students from each type of learning style. Data collection techniques using learning style questionnaires, test methods and interviews. Data analysis was carried out with the steps of the data reduction stage, the data presentation stage, the verification stage and the conclusion. The results showed that 1) students with visual learning styles experienced true pseudo construction, false pseudo construction and construction holes. 2) Students with auditory learning style experience true pseudo construction and false pseudo construction as well as construction holes and mis logical construction. 3) Students with kinesthetic learning style experience construction holes, correct pseudo construction, incorrect pseudo construction and mis logical construction. Concept construction errors in the material of a three-variable linear equation system that are often experienced by subjects are construction holes caused by students' spontaneous thinking, irregularity of students' knowledge from previous knowledge concepts with new knowledge concepts.
