Abstract

Background: Chronic suppurative otitis media is a chronic infection on middle ear with perforation of the tympanic membrane and the presence of secretions for more than two months. This disease is one of the most common causes of preventable hearing loss. Audiometry is a measuring instrument that has been widely used to measure degree of hearing loss. This study aims to know the audiometric results in patients with benign CSOM at Raden Mattaher Hospital Jambi. Methods: This study used a descriptive design with a cross sectional approach to describe the audiometric results of benign CSOM patients at Raden Mattaher Hospital Jambi. This Study used secondary data through medical record data and sample audiometric. Results: A total of 37 patients with benign CSOM at Raden Mattaher Jambi General Hospital were included in the study. From the data it is known that the benign type of CSOM most occurs at the age of 20-35 years, high school education level, not working and mild conductive deafness. Conclusion: The characteristic of benign chronic suppurative otitis media patient in Raden Mattaher Jambi Hospital were dominated by female sex, aged 20-35 years and the results of audiometry were mild conductive deafness in both the right and left ears.
